How can we "seek Me and live" in our daily lives today? Seeking and Living Today “For this is what the LORD says to the house of Israel: ‘Seek Me and live!’” (Amos 5:4) Why “Seek” Comes Before “Live” • Seeking is active pursuit, not passive curiosity. • “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). • Life—both spiritual vitality now and eternal life—flows from God alone (John 14:6). What Seeking God Looks Like Each Day • Personal Scripture intake – Read, study, and meditate (Psalm 119:9-11; John 5:39). – Approach the Bible as wholly true, authoritative, and sufficient. • Prayerful communion – “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). – Include adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and petition. • Obedient response – “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only” (James 1:22). – Seek good, not evil, so you may live (Amos 5:14-15). • Worship in community – Gather with believers (Hebrews 10:24-25). – Encourage one another toward love and good deeds. • Daily repentance – Turn from sin immediately (1 John 1:9). – Cultivate a soft heart that quickly yields to conviction. • Active service – Use your gifts for the body of Christ (1 Pt 4:10-11). – Serve “the least of these” as service unto Christ (Matthew 25:40). Where Not to Seek • Empty ritual (Amos 5:21-23). • Cultural substitutes—Bethel, Gilgal, Beersheba were religious centers now void of truth (Amos 5:5). • Self-made spirituality that ignores God’s revealed Word. Promises to Fuel Perseverance • God rewards those who earnestly seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). • “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8). • “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). A Simple Daily Pattern 1. Meet with God first—Scripture and prayer. 2. Carry His Word with you—verse memorization, audio Bible, reflection. 3. Choose obedience in every decision—large or small. 4. End the day with gratitude and self-examination. Living Out Amos 5:4 Today Seek Him wholeheartedly, obey what He says, and you will experience the vibrant, abundant life He promises—now and forever. |
