How to stay true to God's covenant?
What steps can we take to ensure we remain faithful to God's covenant?

God’s Faithfulness and Warning

Joshua 23:15: “But just as all the good things that the LORD your God has promised you have come to pass, so will He bring upon you all the evil things, until He has destroyed you from this good land that the LORD your God has given you.”

Step 1: Saturate Life with Scripture

Joshua 23:6: “Be very strong to keep and do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses.”

• Build daily rhythms of reading, memorizing, and meditating (Psalm 119:11; Deuteronomy 6:6-9).

• Filter every choice through, “What does God’s Word say?”

Step 2: Choose Prompt, Complete Obedience

1 Samuel 15:22: “To obey is better than sacrifice.”

• Act immediately—delayed compliance breeds compromise.

John 15:10: “If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love.”

Step 3: Guard Against Idolatrous Alliances

Joshua 23:7 warns against mingling with surrounding nations and their gods.

• Identify modern idols—career, pleasure, relationships—and renounce them.

1 John 5:21: “Little children, keep yourselves from idols.”

Step 4: Maintain Reverent Fear

Joshua 24:14: “Now, therefore, fear the LORD and serve Him in sincerity and truth.”

• Awe of God keeps the heart soft (Proverbs 9:10).

1 Corinthians 10:12: “So the one who thinks he is standing firm should be careful not to fall.”

Step 5: Embrace Covenant Community

Hebrews 10:24-25: “And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds, not forsaking meeting together… but encouraging one another.”

• Commit to worship, accountability, and shared service for mutual strength.

Step 6: Practice Remembrance

Joshua 4:6-7—memorial stones to recall God’s deliverance.

• Regularly recount testimonies; gratitude fuels perseverance.

Psalm 103:2: “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all His benefits.”

Step 7: Center on Christ, the Covenant Keeper

2 Corinthians 1:20: “For all the promises of God are ‘Yes’ in Christ.”

• Rely on His indwelling Spirit for power to obey (Galatians 2:20).

Hebrews 10:23: “Let us hold resolutely to the hope we confess, for He who promised is faithful.”

How can we apply the warnings in Joshua 23:15 to our spiritual lives today?
