Inspire others to use gifts for God.
How can we encourage others to use their gifts for God's glory today?

The Pattern in 1 Chronicles 25:29

• “the twenty-second to Giddalti, his sons and his brothers—12 in all.”

• David assigns skilled Levites to serve in the temple orchestra.

• Every family unit is counted, named, and placed—no one overlooked, no talent wasted.

Recognize God as the Source of Every Gift

James 1:17—“Every good and perfect gift is from above.”

1 Corinthians 12:4—“There are different gifts, but the same Spirit.”

• Encourage others by reminding them that their abilities are not accidental but intentionally given by God for His purposes.

Call Out and Affirm Gifts You See

• Simple, specific words:

– “I see how naturally you explain Scripture; that’s teaching in action.”

– “Your warmth with visitors shows a gift of hospitality.”

Proverbs 25:11—“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.”

Provide Clear Opportunities

• Like David creating 24 rotating teams, give people scheduled, tangible ways to serve:

– Musician? Invite them into the worship rotation.

– Organizer? Place them on the event-planning crew.

– Helper? Pair them with a shut-in ministry.

Ephesians 2:10—God prepared good works “in advance for us to do.” We help others walk into those works.

Teach the Purpose: God’s Glory, Not Ours

1 Peter 4:10-11—“Use whatever gift he has received to serve others… so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.”

• Regularly connect service back to worship, just as temple musicians played “to the LORD.”

Model Faithful Service

• Paul: “Follow my example, as I follow Christ.” (1 Corinthians 11:1)

• When we serve with joy and excellence, others gain courage to step forward.

Create a Culture of Accountability and Grace

• Pair new servants with mentors.

• Celebrate progress; gently correct drift.

Galatians 6:1-2—restore with gentleness, bear one another’s burdens.

Guard Against Comparison and Envy

1 Corinthians 12:21—“The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you.’”

• Remind the body that every role—whether visible like Asaph’s cymbals or hidden like a gatekeeper—is essential.

Trust the Spirit’s Empowering

Acts 1:8—“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.”

• Pray with and for people before they serve; expect God to equip them in the moment.

Putting It All Together

• Identify gifts (observe, listen, affirm).

• Involve gifts (provide structured opportunities).

• Inspire gifts (teach purpose, model service, celebrate wins).

• Invest in growth (mentoring, accountability, Spirit-dependence).

By following the pattern set in 1 Chronicles 25 and throughout Scripture, we lift others to use their God-given abilities, and every note of service rises in harmony for His glory.
