Unity Foretold in Ezekiel 37:15–20

Ezekiel 37:15-17: “Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ‘And you, son of man, take for yourself one stick and write on it, “Belonging to Judah and the Israelites associated with him.” Then take another stick and write on it, “Belonging to Joseph—the stick of Ephraim—and all the house of Israel associated with him.” Then join them together into one stick, so that they become one in your hand.’”

• Literal promise: God will reunite the divided kingdoms under one King (vv. 19-22).

• Visual aid: two distinct sticks become inseparably one—unity created and held by God.

From Two Sticks to One Body in Christ

Ephesians 2:14-16: “He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one … to create in Himself one new man out of the two.”

John 10:16: “Then there will be one flock and one Shepherd.”

Galatians 3:28; Colossians 3:11; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Romans 11:17-24 all echo the theme: Jew and Gentile, once separate, are now one in Christ.

Key Parallels

• Two sticks → Two peoples (Jew & Gentile).

• Joined in Ezekiel’s hand → Reconciled “in one body through the cross” (Ephesians 2:16).

• One shepherd-king over united Israel (Ezekiel 37:24) → “One Shepherd” Jesus (John 10:11).

• Everlasting covenant of peace (Ezekiel 37:26) → “Blood of the eternal covenant” (Hebrews 13:20).

Why It Matters Now

• Unity flows from God’s revealed plan, not human effort.

• The cross removes all man-made barriers (Galatians 3:28).

• Believers showcase Christ’s glory when they “maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3).

Living the Prophecy Today

1. Stand in your position: “You are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28).

2. Guard words and attitudes: pursue peace (Romans 12:18).

3. Serve alongside every part of the body, honoring diverse gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-27).

4. Look ahead: the reunited Israel and redeemed nations will worship together (Revelation 7:9-10), fulfilling Ezekiel’s vision forever.
