Other scriptures on rejecting God's truth?
What other scriptures warn against rejecting God's truth and light?

Job’s Caution about Resisting the Light

Job 24:13 sets the tone: “There are those who rebel against the light; they do not recognize its ways nor stay in its paths.” The rest of Scripture keeps echoing the same sober warning.

Old-Testament Echoes

Proverbs 1:24-31 – Wisdom speaks: “Because you refused to listen when I called … they shall eat the fruit of their own way.”

Proverbs 2:13 – Some “leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness.”

Proverbs 4:19 – “The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.”

Isaiah 5:20 – “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who turn darkness into light and light into darkness.”

Isaiah 30:9-11 – A rebellious people say, “Do not prophesy the truth to us.”

Jeremiah 6:16-19 – “They said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ … I am bringing disaster on this people because they have not listened to My words.”

Hosea 4:6 – “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you.”

Light Shines in the Gospels

John 3:19-21 – “Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil.”

John 8:12 – “I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness.”

John 12:35-36 – “Walk while you have the light … whoever walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.”

Apostolic Warnings

Romans 1:18-25 – People “suppress the truth,” their thinking becomes futile, and they are “given over” to darkness.

Ephesians 4:17-19 – The Gentile mindset is “darkened in their understanding … because of the hardness of their hearts.”

2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 – They perish “because they refused to love the truth,” so God sends “a powerful delusion.”

Hebrews 10:26-31 – “If we deliberately go on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins remains.”

1 John 1:5-6 – “God is Light … If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness, we lie.”

Jude 13 – False teachers are “wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.”

2 Peter 2:17 – Similar picture: “springs without water … blackest darkness reserved for them.”

The Pattern Summarized

1. Light is God’s gracious revelation—His Word, His wisdom, ultimately His Son.

2. To resist that light is to choose darkness, ignorance, and eventually judgment.

3. The pattern repeats in every era: call → refusal → hardening → consequence.

Walking in the Light Today

• Keep Scripture central; it is the lamp that exposes every shadow (Psalm 119:105).

• Evaluate teaching and culture by the standard of revealed truth, not preference.

• Cultivate tender hearts; repeated refusal calcifies into hardness that can no longer recognize light when it shines.
