Other texts on stewardship?
Which other scriptures highlight the importance of stewardship and accountability?

Starting with the Anchor Verse

Luke 12:48

“Instead, the one who unknowingly does what deserves punishment will receive a few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be demanded.”

Why Stewardship Matters

Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof, the world and all who dwell therein.”

1 Chronicles 29:14 “For everything comes from You, and we have given You only what comes from Your hand.”

Because God owns it all, whatever He places in our hands—time, abilities, resources, influence—comes with responsibility and a coming review.

Stewardship of Gifts and Talents

Matthew 25:14-15, 19, 21, 29

“For it is just like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted them with his possessions… After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them… ‘Well done, good and faithful servant!’… ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given…’”

1 Peter 4:10 “As good stewards of the manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another.”

God measures faithfulness, not the size of the gift. What matters is investing what He gave for His purposes.

Faithfulness in Small Things

Luke 16:10-12 “Whoever is faithful with very little will also be faithful with much… If you have not been faithful with worldly wealth, who will entrust you with true riches?”

Proverbs 27:23 “Be sure to know the state of your flocks, and pay close attention to your herds.”

Daily details—budgets, schedules, duties—reveal the heart He will one day reward.

Accountability at the Judgment Seat

Romans 14:10-12 “We will all stand before God’s judgment seat… each of us will give an account of himself to God.”

2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad.”

Hebrews 4:13 “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

The reckoning is certain, personal, and comprehensive.

Stewardship of Wealth and Possessions

Galatians 6:7-10 “Whatever a man sows, he will reap… as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone…”

Generosity and wise sowing today shape eternal harvests tomorrow.

Stewardship in Ministry and Teaching

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 “Men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Now it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.”

James 3:1 “Not many of you should become teachers… because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”

Influence over souls carries elevated scrutiny.

Whole-Life Stewardship

Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men… It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Genesis 1:28 “Fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”

Work, family, creation care—all fall under the calling to manage God’s world for His glory.

Putting It All Together

Luke 12:48 sets the tone: privilege equals responsibility, and responsibility leads to accountability. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture echoes the same refrain—God entrusts, expects faithfulness, and will one day evaluate every steward. Living with that certainty shapes every choice today.

How can we apply Luke 12:48 to our daily decision-making processes?
