Promote living by Jesus' teachings.
How can we encourage others to remember and apply Jesus' teachings?

Remembering His Words (Luke 24:8)

“Then they remembered His words.”

Building the Habit of Remembrance

• Speak Scripture aloud together—“Let the word of Christ richly dwell among you.” (Colossians 3:16)

• Repeat key gospel truths at meals, drives, and gatherings, echoing Deuteronomy 6:6-7.

• Memorize in community; short passages rehearsed weekly keep minds fresh (Psalm 119:11).

Highlighting Fulfilled Promises

• Show how Jesus’ earlier statements came true in His resurrection (Luke 9:22; 18:31-33).

• Share testimonies of current answered prayer to connect past promises with present reality.

• Remind one another that “all the promises of God are ‘Yes’ in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

Modeling Obedience in Daily Life

• Live out what He said—“Whoever hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a wise man.” (Matthew 7:24)

• Let others see generosity, forgiveness, and purity visibly practiced; actions reinforce memories.

• Celebrate small steps of obedience so people experience the joy that follows doing His will (James 1:25).

Using the Whole Counsel of Scripture

• Tie the Gospels to the Law, Prophets, and Letters, showing a single unfolding story (Luke 24:27).

• Read passages in sequence; repetition across genres engrains truth.

• Encourage personal reading plans and shared discussion summaries.

Creating Memorials of Truth

• Keep journals, verse cards, or artwork around the home—modern “stones of remembrance” like Joshua 4.

• Mark anniversaries of salvation, baptisms, and answered prayers; retell the story each year.

• Sing doctrinally rich hymns and songs; music aids recall and sinks truth deeper.

Stirring One Another Up Intentionally

• Meet consistently—“Let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

• Offer gentle reminders rather than rebukes; love guards the tone (Ephesians 4:15).

• Encourage by name: “I saw how you applied Jesus’ teaching today…”

Depending on the Spirit’s Reminders

• Trust the promise: “The Helper…will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.” (John 14:26)

• Pray together for open minds and recall before conversations, studies, or service.

• Expect the Spirit to bring verses to mind at just-in-time moments for others’ benefit.

Walking It Out Together

• Share meals, serve neighbors, and study Scripture in the same rhythm; proximity multiplies reminders.

• Pair older believers with younger; “I constantly remind you of these things…” (2 Peter 1:12-13).

• Keep communication open—texts, calls, notes—with quick verses or insights to keep Jesus’ words front-and-center.

Remembered words become lived words; lived words become a testimony others can see, imitate, and pass on.

Why is it important to remember Jesus' words during trials and challenges?
