Response to God's fulfilled promises?
How should we respond when God fulfills promises in our lives?

Scripture Focus: Joshua 19:50

“ ‘In keeping with the LORD’s command, they gave Joshua the city he requested—Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. And he built up the city and settled there.’ ”

What Joshua Shows Us When a Promise Is Fulfilled

• He waited until every tribe received its portion, then humbly accepted his own.

• He acknowledged that the gift came “in keeping with the LORD’s command.”

• He actively developed the blessing—“built up the city.”

• He enjoyed the rest God provided—“settled there.”

• His new home became a lasting testimony of God’s faithfulness.

How We Can Respond Today

1. Recognize the Giver

 • James 1:17—“Every good and perfect gift is from above.”

 • Pause and name the fulfilled promise out loud, giving God the credit.

2. Receive with Humility

 • 1 Peter 5:6—“Humble yourselves… that He may exalt you at the proper time.”

 • Avoid boasting; remember the timing and initiative were the Lord’s.

3. Build on the Blessing

 • Ephesians 2:10—created for good works prepared in advance.

 • Use the new job, relationship, or opportunity to serve and bless others.

4. Rest in God’s Faithfulness

 • Hebrews 4:9—“There remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.”

 • Enjoy what He has given without guilt, trusting His ongoing care.

5. Testify to Others

 • Psalm 145:4—“One generation shall declare Your works to the next.”

 • Share the story so faith multiplies in family, church, and community.

Living It Out

• Keep a written record of promises fulfilled for future remembrance.

• Dedicate a portion of the blessing—time, resource, or talent—back to God in practical service.

• Revisit the site or memory of fulfillment regularly, using it as a personal altar of gratitude.
