Show Christ-like compassion locally?
In what ways can you demonstrate Christ-like compassion in your community today?

Moved With Compassion—Mark 1:41

“Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ He said. ‘Be clean!’”

• Compassion begins inside: Jesus felt before He acted.

• Compassion crosses barriers: He touched a man society called “unclean.”

• Compassion commits: “I am willing” shows resolve, not mere emotion.

Seeing Needs Around You

• Slow down—notice the lonely senior, the harried single parent, the overlooked cashier. (Philippians 2:4)

• Listen—ask “How are you, really?” and wait for a real answer. (James 1:19)

• Look beneath behavior—behind anger or withdrawal may be pain Jesus wants to heal.

Reaching Out and Touching the Untouchable

• Be present in hard places: hospitals, shelters, prisons. (Hebrews 13:3)

• Invite the outsider to your table: the new immigrant, the student far from home. (Luke 14:12-14)

• Offer practical help: rides to appointments, babysitting, a cooked meal. (1 John 3:18)

Speaking Life

• Affirm value: “You matter to God and to me.” (Isaiah 43:4)

• Share Scripture promises aloud; God’s Word never returns void. (Isaiah 55:11)

• Replace gossip with encouragement. (Ephesians 4:29; Proverbs 18:21)

Choosing to Be Willing

• Keep a ready “yes” for small interruptions—compassion often hides there. (2 Corinthians 8:12)

• Budget time and money for mercy; intentions unfunded seldom happen. (Proverbs 3:27)

• Serve with others—join a church outreach or start one; shared effort multiplies impact. (Ecclesiastes 4:9)

Persevering in Compassion

• Expect fatigue but press on; “let us not grow weary in doing good.” (Galatians 6:9)

• Remember whom you serve—every act touches Jesus Himself. (Matthew 25:40)

• Celebrate God’s faithfulness after every act of mercy; gratitude fuels the next step.

Living Mark 1:41 today means feeling, reaching, speaking, and persisting with the same willing heart that moved our Savior—until neighbors, colleagues, and strangers alike can say, “I have experienced the touch of Christ through you.”

How does Mark 1:41 connect with Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah's compassion?
