Why God Condemns Sorcery

• It substitutes counterfeit power for the true power of God.

• It opens hearts to deception and demonic influence (1 Corinthians 10:20).

• It rebels against God’s sovereignty by seeking hidden knowledge or control apart from Him.

• It corrupts community life; Israel was told that sorcery would defile the land and its people.

Living the Message Today

• Trust God’s Word for guidance; refuse every occult shortcut.

• Rely on the Holy Spirit, not hidden forces, for wisdom and power (James 1:5; Acts 1:8).

• Remove any occult or New Age objects, books, or practices from your life, following the pattern of Acts 19.

• Encourage fellow believers to stay alert; deception often wears an “angel of light” disguise (2 Corinthians 11:14).
