1Brothers and sisters, when I was with you, I could not talk to you as spiritual people, but as carnal (worldly), mere infants in Christ. 2I have fed you with milk, and not with solid food; for you were not ready for it, nor are you even now. 3You are still sinful in nature; for as long as there is envying, strife, and divisions among you, are you not still under worldly influence, and behaving as unregenerate? 4For while one says, “I am of Paul.”; and another, “I am of Apollos.”; are you not just like unregenerate people? 5After all, who is Paul, and who is Apollos? We are just servants by whom you came to believe in Christ, each of us doing the tasks that the Lord assigned us. 6I have planted, Apollos has watered; but it is God Who gives the increase. 7So, neither the one who plants, nor the one that waters; is anything - but God, Who gives the increase. 8Now those that plant and water have one purpose; and everyone shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9For we are co-workers serving God; and you are God's cultivated field, you are God's building. 10By the grace that God has given me, I have laid the foundation, as a wise builder, so that others may build on that foundation. But each of us should build upon it with care. 11For no one can lay any other foundation than what is already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if anyone builds upon this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble - 13Their work shall be made evident; for the judgement day shall reveal it by fire; and that fire shall test every man's work, as to what sort it is. 14If what has been built survives, he shall receive a reward. 15If any man's work is burned (consumed), that builder shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved; like someone who barely escapes through a wall of flames. 16Do you not know that you, yourselves, are the Temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells within you? 17If anyone defiles the Temple of God, God shall destroy him; for the Temple of God is holy, and you are that Temple. 18But do not deceive yourselves: If you think you are wise by the standards of this world, you need to become a “fool”, so that you may become truly wise. 19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s eyes. For it is written, “He takes the wise in their own craftiness.” (Job 5:13). 20And again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.” (Ps. 94:11). 21So then, do not boast about following any human leader. For all things are yours - 22Whether Paul, Apollos, Cephas, or the world, life, death, things present, or things to come in the future - all are yours; 23And you are of Christ; and Christ is of God.
