1That One, Who was from the beginning, Whom we have heard, Whom we have seen with our own eyes, Whom we have looked upon, and our hands have touched – this we proclaim to you concerning the Word of life. 2This One, Who is Life itself, Who was revealed to us, and we now bear witness to you of that eternal Life, Who was with the Father, and has appeared to us. 3What we have seen and heard, this we now proclaim to you; so that you may also have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is truly with the Father, and with His Son, Jesus Christ. 4These things we write to you, so that you may fully share our joy. 5This is the message which we have heard from Him, and declare to you: that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. 6If we claim that we have fellowship with Him, and yet we continue to walk in spiritual darkness, we lie, and are not living or practicing the truth; 7But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with each another; and the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. 8If we claim that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9But if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say that we have not sinned, we make God out to be a liar, and His word has no place in our hearts.
