1And in the four hundred eightieth year after the Israelites had left the land of Egypt, in the second month of Ziv, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, he began to build the Temple of the LORD. 2And the length of the house which King Solomon built for the LORD was sixty cubits (90 feet), its width was twenty cubits (30 feet), and its height was thirty cubits (45 feet). 3The length of the porch in front of the Temple of the house was twenty cubits (30 feet) to match the width of the house; and its width was ten cubits (15 feet). 4And he made windows of narrow lights high up on the walls of the house. 5He built a structure along the walls around the building, of both the main house and inner sanctuary (oracle), in which there were side rooms. 6Those on the lowest floor were five cubits wide, those on the middle floor were six cubits wide, and those on the third floor were floor seven cubits wide. He made offset ledges around the outside of the Temple so that no beams would be inserted into the Temple walls. 7And, when the house was being built, the stones were prepared before they were brought there; so that there was neither hammer, axe, nor the sound of any iron tool heard in the house, while it was being built. 8The entrance to the lowest floor was in the right (south) side of the house; with stairs winding up into the middle room, and from there to the third. 9So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar. 10And then he built chambers (side rooms) all along the house wall, five cubits high; and they were attached to the house with beams of cedar.

11And this word of the LORD came to Solomon: 12Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in My statutes, and execute My judgments, and keep all My commandments; then I will, through you, fulfill My promise which I gave to David, your father: 13And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake My people Israel. 14So Solomon built, and finished the house. 15And he lined the interior walls of the house with cedar panels, from the floor to the ceiling of the house; and he covered the floor of the house with planks of fir. 16And he partitioned off twenty cubits at the rear of the Temple with cedar boards from floor to ceiling, to form within the Temple an inner sanctuary, the most holy place.

17And the main hall of the house, that is, the inner sanctuary in front of the Temple, was forty cubits (60 feet) long. 18And the cedar of the house within was carved with buds and open flowers: all of cedar; there was no stone visible. 19And he prepared the inner sanctuary within the house, in which to set the Ark of the covenant of the LORD. 20And the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits (30 feet) in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits was the height of it; and he overlaid it with pure gold; and he also overlaid the altar which was of cedar. 21So Solomon overlaid the house inside of the Temple with pure gold; and he made a partition of chains of gold before the inner sanctuary (oracle), and he overlaid it with gold. 22And he overlaid the whole interior of the house with gold, including the altar that was inside the Most Holy inner sanctuary.

23And within that inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive tree wood, each cherubim ten cubits (15 feet) high. 24And five cubits was the length of one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the length of the other wing of the cherub - ten cubits (15 feet) from tip to tip. 25And the second cherub was of the same size and shape. 26The height of each cherub was ten cubits. 27And he placed the cherubim inside the Most Holy inner sanctuary. And the wings of the cherubim were spread, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their other wings touched one another in the middle of the house. 28And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.

29And on all the walls of the house, both the inner and main part, all around, there were carved figures of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers. 30And he overlaid the floor of the house with gold, inside and out. 31And for the entrance to the inner sanctuary he made doors of olive tree wood; the lintel and side posts were a fifth part of the wall. 32The two doors were also of olive wood; and he decorated them with carvings of cherubim, palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid the cherubim and palm trees with hammered gold. 33In the same way, he made the door of the Temple posts of olive tree wood that made up one fourth part of the wall. 34And the two doors were of fir; the two leaves of both doors were folding. 35And he carved on them cherubim and palm trees and open flowers; and covered them with gold hammered to fit evenly over the carved work.

36And he built the inner court with three rows of hewn stone, and a row of cedar beams.

37In the fourth year, in the month of Ziv, the foundation of the Temple of the LORD was laid; 38And in the eleventh year, in the eighth month of Bul, all the parts of the house were finished throughout, according to the prescribed fashion of it. So, it took Solomon seven years to build the Temple.
