1Therefore, since we have received this ministry, through God’s mercy, we do not lose heart, 2But we have renounced underhanded and shameful methods; nor do we use deception, nor misrepresent the word of God. Instead, we clearly reveal the plain truth of God’s Word (the gospel message); and this is our letter of commendation, as we appeal to everyone’s conscience in the eyes of God. 3But if our gospel (Good News) has been veiled, it is hidden only from those that are lost, 4In whom the god of this age (Satan) has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, Who is the image of God, does not shine upon them. 5For we do not preach about ourselves, but of Christ Jesus as Lord, and us as just your servants for Jesus' sake. 6For God, Who said “Let the light shine in the darkness.” (Gen.1:3), has made His radiance of the knowledge of God in our hearts shine to the glory of God upon the face of Jesus Christ. 7But we have this treasure in earthen jars, that the excellency of this all-surpassing power may be shown to be of God, and not of us. 8We are troubled and hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9Persecuted, but not forsaken (abandoned); knocked down, but not destroyed; 10Always carrying around in our body the death of the Lord Jesus, so that the life of Jesus might also be revealed in our body. 11For we who are alive are always in danger of death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus might also be revealed in our mortal flesh. 12So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. 13As it is written, “I believed; therefore, I have spoken.” (Ps.116:10); we also believe, and therefore speak, 14For we know that He Who raised up the Lord Jesus shall also raise us up with and by Jesus, and shall present us with you to Himself. 15For all this is for your benefit, so that the abundant grace might reach more and more people; and cause the thanksgiving of many to redound to the glory of God. 16For this reason, we do not lose heart. For though our outward man (bodies) may waste away, yet inwardly, we are renewed day by day. 17For our present and momentary afflictions are achieving for us a more exceeding and eternal glory that far outweighs those afflictions, 18So we do not look at (or focus upon) the things that are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporary; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
