2 Thessalonians 3
Reader-Friendly Bible: Purple Letter EditionKJP

1Finally, brothers and sisters, we ask that you pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly, and be honored everywhere, as it has been with you, 2And also pray that we may be rescued from perverse and wicked people; for not everyone is a believer. 3But the Lord is faithful, and He shall strengthen you in your faith, and protect you from the evil one. 4And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing and will continue to do what we command you. 5And may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient steadfastness of Christ.

6Now, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, brothers and sisters, we command you, that you stay away from every brother that is idle or undisciplined, and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. 7For you know how you ought to follow our example; for we were never idle or undisciplined among you, 8Nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it; but toiled night and day, that we might support ourselves and not be a burden to any of you; 9Not because we were not entitled to your support, but to be an example for you to follow. 10For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “Those unwilling to work should not eat.” 11For we hear that some among you are idle and disruptive, not working at all, but being busybodies. 12Now we command and exhort, by our Lord Jesus Christ, that such people work with quietness, and eat their own food. 13But as for you, brothers, and sisters, never grow weary in doing what is right. (Gal.6:9)

14And take special note of anyone who does not obey our words in this letter; and do not associate with them, so that they may feel ashamed. 15But do not regard them as an enemy, but admonish them as a fellow believer. 16Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with you all. 17I, Paul, write this greeting in my own handwriting, which is the token (distinguishing mark) in every epistle (letter) that I write. 18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
