1I solemnly urge you, in the presence of God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, Who shall judge the living and the dead when He comes to set up His kingdom: 2Preach the word; be diligent in and out of season, to correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and careful teaching. 3For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but, instead, to satisfy their own desires, they shall gather around many teachers that tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4And they shall refuse to hear the truth, and turn to myths and fables. 5But keep a clear mind in all circumstances, endure afflictions, doing the work of an evangelist, fulfilling your ministry. 6For my life is already being poured out, like a drink offering, and the time of my departure draws near. 7I have fought the good fight; I have finished my course (race); I have kept the faith; 8From this point forward, a crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me on that day; and not only to me, but to all those that long for His appearing. 9Do your best to come to me as soon as you can; 10Demas has abandoned me, and left for Thessalonica because he loves this present world. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. 11Only Luke is with me. Bring Mark with you; for he is helpful to me for the ministry. 12And I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus. 13When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, and the books, especially the parchments. 14Alexander, the coppersmith, did me much harm; the Lord will reward him for what he has done. 15You should also be on your guard against him; for he has strongly opposed our message. 16The first time I was brought before the judge, no one came to support me, but they all abandoned me. I pray God that it may not be held against them. 17However, the Lord stood with me, and gave me strength, so that the gospel message could be proclaimed by me, and spread widely, that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was rescued from the mouth of the lion. 18And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil attack, and will bring me safely into His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen. 19Greet Prisca (Priscilla) and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. 20Erastus stayed at Corinth; but I have left Trophimus sick at Miletus. 21Do your best to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, as do Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers and sisters. 22The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
