Deuteronomy 16

1Observe the month of Abib, and keep the Passover unto the LORD your God: because in the month of Abib the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt by night. 2You shall therefore sacrifice the Passover unto the LORD your God, of the flock and the herd, in the place where the LORD shall choose to place His name. 3You must eat no leavened bread with it; for seven days you must eat unleavened bread with it - the bread of affliction; because you left the land of Egypt in haste, so that you remember all your life, the day you came out of the land of Egypt. 4There must be no leavened bread seen with you in all your land for those seven days; nor shall any of its flesh, which you sacrificed on the first day at evening, remain throughout the night until morning. 5You may not sacrifice the Passover within any of your gates, which the LORD your God gives you: 6But only at the place where the LORD your God shall choose to place His name; there is where you must sacrifice the Passover at evening, at the setting of the sun, at the time when you left Egypt. 7And you shall roast and eat it in the place which the LORD your God shall choose: and in the morning, you shall return to your homes. 8Six days you must eat unleavened bread, and the seventh day shall be a solemn assembly to the LORD your God; you shall do no work that day.

9“You shall count seven weeks from the time you begin to cut and harvest the grain. 10And you shall celebrate the Festival of Weeks to the LORD your God with a tribute of a freewill offering, which you shall give unto the LORD your God, in proportion to how the LORD your God has blessed you: 11And you shall rejoice before the LORD your God, in the place where He has chosen to place His name - you, your son, daughter, your manservant and maidservant, the Levite in your town, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, living among you. 12You shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt: and you must observe and follow these decrees.

13“You must observe the feast of tabernacles (booths) for seven days, after you have gathered in your grain and your wine: 14And you shall rejoice in your feast, you, your son, your daughter, your manservant, your maidservant, the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that live in your town. 15Seven days you shall keep a solemn feast unto the LORD your God in the place where the LORD shall choose: because the LORD your God shall bless you in all your increase, and in all your labor, therefore you shall surely rejoice.

16“Three times each year shall all your males appear before the LORD your God in the place where He shall choose: at the feast of unleavened bread; the Festival of Weeks; and the Festival of Tabernacles; and they shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed: 17Each man shall give as he is able, in proportion to how the LORD your God has blessed him.

18“You shall appoint judges and officers in all the towns which the LORD your God gives you, throughout all your tribes: and they shall judge the people fairly. 19You must not pervert justice; you must not show partiality, nor take a bribe: for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise, and twists the words of the righteous. 20You shall exercise true justice, that you may live, and enjoy your inheritance in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

21“You must not plant a grove of trees, or set up any wooden Asherah pole, near the altar of the LORD your God. 22Nor shall you set up any image; for these things the LORD your God hates.
