Deuteronomy 7

1When the LORD your God shall bring you into the land that you go to possess, and has driven out many nations before you - the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and the Jebusites - seven nations greater and mightier than you; 2And when the LORD your God shall turn them over to you; you must defeat, and utterly destroy them; you must make no treaty with them, nor show mercy to them: 3Nor shall you inter-marry with them: you must not give your daughter to their sons, nor shall their daughters marry your sons. 4For they will turn your sons away from following the LORD, to serve other gods: then the anger of the LORD will be kindled against you, and destroy you suddenly. 5But this is how you must you deal with them: you must destroy their altars, break down their images, cut down their idols, and burn their graven images in the fire. 6For you are a holy people unto the LORD your God: the LORD your God has chosen you to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are on the face of the earth. 7The LORD did not set His love upon you, nor choose you, because you were greater in number than other people; for you were the fewest of all people; 8But because the LORD loved you, and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn to your fathers, that is why the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and rescued you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. 9Know, therefore, that the LORD your God, is a faithful God, Who keeps covenant and mercy with those who love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations; 10But He also repays those who despise Him to their face, to destroy them: He will not hesitate to repay those that hate Him, He will repay them to his face. 11Therefore, you must keep the commandments, statutes, and ordinances, which I command you this day, and obey them.

12“Then, because you listen to and abide by these judgments, the LORD your God shall keep His covenant of love and the mercy which He promised to your fathers: 13And He will love, bless, and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your womb, and the fruit of your land - your grain, wine, and oil, the increase of your cattle, and flocks of your sheep, in the land which He promised to your fathers to give you. 14You shall be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. 15And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you know, upon you; but will lay them upon all those that hate you.

16“And you must destroy all the people whom the LORD your God shall deliver to you; you must have no pity on them: nor shall you serve their gods; for that will be a snare to you. 17If you say to yourself, ‘These nations are more numerous than we; how can we dispossess them?’ 18You must not be afraid of them: but remember well what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh, and to all Egypt: 19The great terrors the LORD sent against them, which your own eyes saw - the signs, wonders, the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, by which the LORD your God brought you out. The LORD your God shall do the same to all the people of whom you are afraid. 20Moreover, the LORD your God will send the hornet among them, until those that are left hide themselves from you, and are destroyed. 21You must not be frightened by them: for the LORD your God Who is among you is a great and awesome God. 22And the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you little by little: you may not conquer them all at once, or the wild beasts will increase, infest, and be a menace to you. 23But the LORD your God shall deliver them to you, and shall bring them to complete confusion, until they are destroyed. 24And He shall turn their kings over to you, and you shall blot out their name from under heaven. There shall be none able to stand before you; you shall destroy them all. 25The graven (carved) images of their gods, you shall burn in the fire; you shall not desire the silver or gold that is in them, nor save them, so that they do not become a snare to you: for they are an abomination to the LORD your God. 26Do not bring such detestable things into your house, so that you do not become cursed like they are: but you shall utterly abhor them; for they are cursed things.
