1And the leaders of the people dwelt at Jerusalem; and the rest of the people cast lots, to bring one (person) out of ten to live in Jerusalem, the holy city, and the other nine-tenths to dwell in other cities. 2And the people blessed all the men who willingly offered themselves to live in Jerusalem.

3Now these are the heads of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem; but in the cities of Judah everyone lived in his possession in their cities, - the Israelites, priests, Levites, Nethinim, and the progeny of Solomon's servants.

4And certain of the descendants of Judah, and of Benjamin dwelt at Jerusalem. Of the descendants of Judah were: Athaiah the son of Uzziah, son of Zechariah, son of Amariah, son of Shephatiah, son of Mahalalel, of the descendants of Perez; 5And Maaseiah, son of Baruch, son of Colhozeh, son of Hazaiah, son of Adaiah, son of Joiarib, son of Zechariah, son of Shilonite. 6All the sons of Perez who lived at Jerusalem were four hundred sixty-eight valiant men.

7And these are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu, son of Meshullam, son of Joed, son of Pedaiah, son of Kolaiah, son of Maaseiah, son of Ithiel, son of Jeshaiah. 8And after him Gabbai, Sallai, nine hundred twenty-eight. 9And Joel, son of Zichri, was their overseer; and Judah, son of Hassenuah, was second over the city.

10Of the priests: Jedaiah, son of Joiarib, Jachin, 11Seraiah, son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, was the leader of the Temple of God. 12And their brethren who did the work of the house were eight hundred twenty-two; and Adaiah, son of Jeroham, son of Pelaliah, son of Amzi, son of Zechariah, son of Pashhur, son of Malchiah, 13And his brethren, heads of the fathers' houses, two hundred forty-two; and Amashai, son of Azareel, son of Ahsai, son of Meshillemoth, son of Immer, 14And their brethren, mighty men of valor, a hundred twenty-eight; and their overseer was Zabdiel, son of Haggedolim.

15Also of the Levites were: Shemaiah, son of Hashub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, son of Bunni; 16And Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chiefs of the Levites, had the oversight of the outside business of the Temple of God. 17And Mattaniah, son of Micha, son of Zabdi, son of Asaph, was the leader to begin the thanksgiving in prayer; and Bakbukiah, the second among his brothers, and Abda, son of Shammua, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun. 18All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred eighty-four.

19Moreover, the gatekeepers, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren who kept the gates, were a hundred seventy-two.

20And the rest of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, everyone in his inheritance. 21But the Nethinim dwelt in Ophel; and Ziha and Gishpa were over them. 22The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi, son of Bani, son of Hashabiah, son of Mattaniah, son of Micha, of the sons of Asaph, the singers, were over the business of the Temple of God. 23For it was the king's (Artaxerxes’) commandment concerning them, that a certain portion should be for the singers, as every day required. 24And Pethahiah, son of Meshezabel, of the descendants of Zerah, son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people.

25And as for the villages, with their fields, some of the descendants of Judah dwelt at Kiriath-arba, and in its villages, and at Dibon, and in its villages, and at Jekabzeel, and in its villages, 26And at Jeshua, and at Moladah, and at Beth-pelet, 27And at Hazar-shual, and at Beersheba, and in its villages, 28And at Ziklag, and at Meconah, and in its villages, 29And at En-rimmon, and at Zorah, and at Jarmuth, 30Zanoah, Adullam, and in their villages, at Lachish, and its fields, at Azekah, and in its villages. And they dwelt from Beersheba to the valley of Hinnom.

31The descendants of Benjamin also dwelt from Geba onward, at Michmash, and Aija, and Bethel, and in their villages, 32And at Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah, 33Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim, 34Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat, 35Lod, and Ono, the valley of craftsmen.

36And of the Levites were divisions in Judah, and in Benjamin.
