A Song of degrees. During the Babylonian captivity.

1Out of the depths have I cried out to You, O LORD. 2LORD, hear my voice; let Your ears be attentive to my cry for help. 3If You kept a record of sins, O LORD, who could stand? 4But with You, there is forgiveness for those who revere You. 5I wait for the LORD, my entire being waits, and in His word do I trust. 6My soul waits for the LORD more than those on night watch wait for morning; more than they that await the dawn.

7Israel, hope in the LORD; for with the LORD there is mercy, and with Him is abundant redemption. 8And He shall redeem Israel from all their sins.
