A Song of degrees. Upon the second moving of the Ark of the Covenant

1LORD, remember David, and all that he has suffered; 2He swore an oath to the LORD, and vowed to the Mighty God of Jacob: 3“I will not enter my house, nor take rest in my bed; 4I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids, 5Until I find a place for the LORD, a habitation for the Mighty God of Jacob.” 6We heard that the Ark was at Ephrathah; then we found it in the fields of Jaar. 7Let us go into His dwelling place; worship at His footstool, and say, 8“Arise, O LORD, and come into Your resting place; You, and the ark of Your power. 9May Your priests be clothed with righteousness; and let Your saints shout for joy. 10For Your servant David's sake, do not reject the king that You have anointed.”

11The LORD has sworn in truth unto David; He will not turn from it: “One of your own descendants will I set upon your throne. 12If your sons will keep My covenant and My testimony that I shall teach them, their sons shall also sit upon your throne for evermore. 13For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation, and said: 14“This is My resting place forever; here will I dwell; for I have desired it. 15I will bless her with abundant provisions; I will satisfy her poor with food. 16I will also clothe her priests with salvation; and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. 17Here will I make the horn of David to bud and grow; I have ordained a lamp for My Anointed One. 18His enemies I will clothe with shame; but upon Him shall be His radiant crown shine.”
