A Psalm and Song of David, upon the first attempt to return the Ark of God (2Sam. 6:11)

1May God arise, and His enemies be scattered; let all that hate Him flee before Him. 2May You drive them away like smoke is driven away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. 3But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice with great gladness before God. 4Sing unto God, sing in praise of His name; exalt Him Who rides upon the clouds by His name which is the LORD, and rejoice before Him. 5A Father of the fatherless, and a Judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation. 6God provides families for the lonely; He frees those who are bound with chains; but the rebellious dwell in a desolate land.

7O God, when You went out before Your people, when You marched through the wilderness, Selah, 8At Your presence, the earth shook, the heavens dropped rain; and even Sinai itself was moved at Your presence, O God of Israel. 9You, O God, sent a plentiful rain, by which You refreshed Your inheritance, when it was weary. 10Your people have dwelt in that inheritance which You, O God, have provided for the poor by Your goodness. 11The LORD gave the word; great was the company of those who proclaimed it. 12Kings of armies fled in haste; and the women who waited at home divided the spoil. 13Even those who lived with the sheep found treasures – doves with wings of silver, and feathers of gold. 14When the Almighty scattered kings in the land, it was like blowing snow in Zalmon. 15The hill of God is like Mount Bashan; a rugged mountain. 16Why do you gaze with envy, you high hills of many peaks, at the hill which God chose to dwell in, where the LORD will dwell forever? 17The chariots of God are tens of thousands, even thousands of thousands; the LORD is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place. 18You have ascended on high, You have led captivity captive. You have received gifts from men, even from the rebellious, that the LORD God might dwell there among us.

19Blessed be the LORD, Who daily bears our burdens; God, Himself is our salvation. Selah. 20Our sovereign God is the God of salvation, Who rescues us from death. 21But God shall bruise the head of His enemies, the hairy scalp of him who persists in his trespasses. 22The LORD said, “I will bring again from Bashan (Deut. 3:1), I will bring My people again from the depths of the sea, 23That your foot may wade in the blood of your enemies, and the tongue of your dogs will share in the same.”

24They have seen Your procession, O God, even the procession of my God, my King, in the sanctuary. 25The singers went in front, followed by musicians with instruments; damsels playing with timbrels among them. 26Praise God in the congregations, praise the LORD, the fountain of Israel. 27There is the little tribe of Benjamin with their ruler, the leaders of Judah and their council, the leaders of Zebulun, and the leaders of Naphtali.

28Your God has decreed your strength; strengthen, O God, what You have already done for us. 29Because of Your Temple at Jerusalem, shall kings bring presents unto You. 30Rebuke the enemy nations, the herd of the bulls among the weaker calves of the people, till every one humbles himself and comes with pieces of silver as tribute; scatter the people who delight in war, O God. 31Nobles shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch her hands out to God.

32Sing unto God, you kingdoms of the earth; Oh, sing praises unto the LORD, Selah: 33To Him Who rides across the highest heavens, which were of old; lo, He sends out His voice, and that a mighty voice. 34Ascribe to God strength; His majesty is over Israel, and His strength is in the clouds. 35O God, You are awe-inspiring from Your sanctuary; the God of Israel is He Who gives strength and power to His people.
