Matthew 13:33 Another parable spoke he to them; The kingdom of heaven is like to leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal… We may reduce the parable to three general heads. I. WHAT IS COMPARED? The matter compared is the kingdom of heaven. II. To WHAT IS IT COMPARED? Leaven. III. IN WHAT IS IT COMPARED. NOW the concurrence of these lies in the sequel — "which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened." Wherein are remarkable (1) the agent — a woman; (2) the action — which is double, taking and hiding, or putting in the leaven; (3) the subject — is meal, or flour; (4) the continuance — until the whole mass be leavened.
