Philemon 1:3 Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The word "grace" would be peculiarly touching to Philemon in connection with the plea for Onesimus. The speech to us of "grace" is to remind us of our sins and of their forgiveness by an infinite compassion. "Think," he seems to say, "how much God hath forgiven thee, how thou art saved by grace. Imitate thy God." (Bp. Wm. Alexander.)
