1. The lofty in birth and the rich in possession have no claim, on such grounds, for this distinction.

2. Nor the loftiest in intellect.

3. Nor yet the man who —

(1)  works the most;

(2)  suffers the most;

(3)  gives the most — in the service of God.

II. Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

1. The humble man.

2. He who is the most docile.

3. He who is most unworldly.

4. He who is most loving in spirit.

5. He who cherishes a forgiving spirit.
