Walking with God
Genesis 5:24
And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.


I. WHAT IS IMPLIED IN THE TERM.

II. I SHALL PRESCRIBE SOME MEANS, IN THE LAWFUL USE OF WHICH BELIEVERS ARE ENABLED TO KEEP UP THEIR WALK WITH GOD.

1. By studying the Scriptures.

2. By constant and earnest prayer.

3. By watching the dealings of God without.

4. The motions of God within.

5. Walking in ordinances.

6. Walking in providences.

7. In the communion of saints.

8. And by meditation.

III. I SHALL OFFER SOME MOTIVES TO STIR US UP TO THIS HOLY PRACTICE. It is most honourable: most pleasing: and abundantly beneficial to the souls of men.

1. This walking is by faith in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:7).

2. Looking to the promises of God (1 Timothy 4:8).

3. Trusting to the wisdom of God (Romans 8:28).
