Spiritual sight or knowledge is of itself a great blessing 2. Such a petition honours and acknowledges the work of the Holy Ghost. 3. There are wonders in the system of revealed truth which have yet to be explored and known. 4. The opening of our eyes is a work of Divine grace and power, and stands intimately connected with our pardon and regeneration. 5. This prayer stands before us as a spiritual and heaven-inspired petition, because of its opposition to the spirit and desires of the carnal mind. 6. Unless this prayer, or its equivalent, be uttered in an earnest and believing spirit, a blinding process will go on, which can only terminate in the darkness of death eternal. (A. Barrett.)
