1 Peter 3:18-20
For Christ also has once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh…

2. Ignominious.

3. Voluntary.

II. THE PURPOSES OF CHRIST'S SUFFERINGS. "That He might bring us to God."!

1. By His atoning sacrifice, thereby removing every obstacle in the way of the sinner's access to God.

2. By the operations of His Holy Spirit.

3. By the prevalency of His intercession.
