Justification
Isaiah 53:11
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many…

There are commonly six causes made necessary to concur in justification.

1. The efficient cause — God, the Party that doth justify.

2. The final cause — His own glory.

3. The meritorious cause — Christ's merit.

4. The inward instrumental cause — faith.

5. The formal cause, or that wherein justification consists.

6. The external, instrumental cause — the Word of God.
