The Miracle of the Loaves
Mark 6:35-44
And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came to him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:…


This miracle(1) teaches us that all feeding is from the Divine hand;

(2) declares that God feeds men in tenderness and compassion;

(3) points to those many processes of nature which are (like the disciples here) employed by Him to convey to us His gifts;

(4) shows that, in God's gifts, the poverty of human means and natural resources hinders not the fullest satisfaction of our wants;

(5) illustrates the economy which reigns in God's house: His gifts are precious in His own sight at least;

(6) teaches the duty of thankful reception of all He bestows.
