Self-Denial Must not be Constrained by Providence
Matthew 16:24
Then said Jesus to his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Not as a mariner, in a storm, casts away his goods by force, but as a bride leaves her father's house (Psalm 45:10). It must be out of a principle of grace, and out of love to Christ.
