John 8:38-47 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and you do that which you have seen with your father.… To whom will nature reveal herself? To the clown or the poet? The poet gets something out of "the meanest flower that blows." The wise man hears music in the wind, the stream, the twitter of birds. What does the clown hear, or the sordid man? Noises — tongues unknown and uninterpreted. Nature says precisely what Christ says: "I will manifest myself to Him that loveth me." (J. Parker, D. D.)
