1 Corinthians 9:24
Know you not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives the prize? So run, that you may obtain.


I. HIS EXERCISES. The Christian life may be compared to —

1. A race.

2. A combat.

II. THE CONDITIONS OF SUCCESS IN THESE EXERCISES.

1. Personal mastery.

2. Moderation.

3. Distinctness of aim.

4. Concentration of purpose.

5. Activity.

6. Courage.

7. Perseverance.

III. THE REWARD OF SUCCESS.

1. Its intrinsic value.

2. Its permanence.Application: This reward should make us —

1. Burn with ambition.

2. Watchful

3. Enduring and contented.
