2 Peter 1:10-11 Why the rather, brothers, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you shall never fall:… Four classes of motives are suggested by this passage urging the exhortation it contains. I. THE SUPREME IMPORTANCE OF RELIGION. II. ANOTHER MOTIVE TO DILIGENCE IN RELIGION URGED BY THIS EXHORTATION IS THE VALUE OF AN UNEQUIVOCAL CHARACTER. III. A THIRD MOTIVE TO DILIGENCE SUGGESTED BY THIS EXHORTATION IS, THAT GOD DEALS WITH US ON A SYSTEM OF REWARD. "Give diligence," and you shall have these three things — assurance, stability, and an abundant entrance into heaven. IV.
