It is to the atonement, principally, that the apostle refers. 1. It was prepared from eternity. 2. It was made known by revelation. 3. It was finally laid at the death of Christ. II. ITS PECULIARITY. Christ is the only foundation — 1. That God has appointed. 2. That the Scriptures will warrant. 3. That the righteous have in every age relied upon. III. THE ADVANTAGES OF TRUSTING ON IT. 1. It promotes the glory of God. 2. It produces evangelical obedience. 3. It secures safety, honour, and happiness. (1) In the season of adversity. (2) In the hour of dissolution. (3) In the day of judgment.Conclusion: Let us — 1. Seek to obtain correct views of our true condition as sinners in the sight of God. 2. Beware of building on any false foundation. 3.
