James 4:6 But he gives more grace. Why he said, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. It is with us as with the reeds which grow by the riverside; when the waters overflow, the reed bows its head and bends down, and the flood passes over it without breaking it, after which it uplifts its head and stands erect in all its vigour, rejoicing in renewed life.
