Sin: a Soul-Prospect
Homilist
Psalm 51:8
Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which you have broken may rejoice.

I. A VERY DISTRESSING ONE. Man can look at nothing more terrible.

II. INEVITABLE. As certain as the laws of nature bring us light, the laws of convenience and memory will bring up before the eye the hideous forms of sin.

III. VERY SALUTARY.

1. It humbles the soul.

2. To reconcile to painful providences.

3. To prepare for the Gospel, whose mission is to tell of Him who "puts away sin."

(Homilist.)
