Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept your testimonies.…


I. SOCIAL CONTEMPT (ver. 22).

1. Is a thing to be deprecated.

2. Is a thing not always to be deserved. It is a characteristic of wicked society, that it condemns the good.

II. CONSCIOUS RECTITUDE (vers. 23, 24). Contrast social contempt with conscious rectitude.

1. The one is painful, the other pleasing.

2. The one depressing, the other elevating.
