2 Chronicles 5:4
When all the elders of Israel had arrived, the Levites took up the ark,
When all the elders of Israel had arrived,

Israel’s tribal leaders assembled for the dedication of Solomon’s temple and the transfer of the Ark of the Covenant into the Most Holy Place. Their presence represented the united nation in a solemn act of worship and covenant remembrance. The elders bore responsibility for the spiritual and civil welfare of the tribes, continuing the pattern of shared leadership established in Moses’ day (Exodus 18:21–22). The occasion joined Israel’s leaders, priests, Levites, and people in acknowledging that the Lord alone was Israel’s true King.

the Levites took up the ark,

The Ark was handled by those appointed for sacred service, in obedience to God’s instructions concerning its holiness (Numbers 4:15; 1 Chronicles 15:2, 15). Earlier attempts to move the Ark improperly had brought judgment, teaching David and Israel that zeal could not replace obedience (1 Chronicles 13:9–10). Its proper transportation to the temple demonstrated reverence for the Lord’s presence and faithfulness to His covenant. The Ark, containing the tablets of the covenant, pointed to the need for a mediator between a holy God and sinful people, ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the greater High Priest and mediator of the new covenant.

Chronicles
The comparative indifference with which Chronicles is regarded in modern times by all but professional scholars seems to have been shared by the ancient Jewish church. Though written by the same hand as wrote Ezra-Nehemiah, and forming, together with these books, a continuous history of Judah, it is placed after them in the Hebrew Bible, of which it forms the concluding book; and this no doubt points to the fact that it attained canonical distinction later than they. Nor is this unnatural. The book
