Levites beyond fifty remained connected to the sanctuary’s ministry, lending the judgment, instruction, and oversight gained through years of service. The physically demanding work of transporting and assembling the Tabernacle belonged to younger Levites, while older men could help their brethren keep guard over its holy service. Their continued place among the servants of the Lord honored both their experience and the enduring value of faithful service.

The regular labor assigned to Levites between thirty and fifty years of age included the care, transport, and handling of the Tabernacle and its furnishings, as detailed in Numbers 4. The Lord established the Levites as His chosen servants in place of Israel’s firstborn (Numbers 3:12–13).
