Sirach 38:17
Good News Translation
Weep bitterly and passionately; observe the proper period of mourning for the person. Mourn for a whole day or maybe two, to keep people from talking, but then pull yourself together and reconcile yourself to the loss.

New Revised Standard Version
Let your weeping be bitter and your wailing fervent; make your mourning worthy of the departed, for one day, or two, to avoid criticism; then be comforted for your grief.

Contemporary English Version
Weep bitterly to show respect for the dead. If you don't grieve at all, you will be criticized, but don't mourn for longer than a day or two.
