1 Samuel 20
The New Messianic Version of the Bible
1And David [beloved] fled from Nayot [the prophet’s dormitory] in Ramah [Hill], and came and said before Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given], What have I done? what [is] my iniquity? and what [is] my sin before youi father, that he seeks my life? 2And he said unto him, God-Elohim (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] forbid; youi shall not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will show it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it [is] not [so]. 3And David [beloved] swore moreover, and said, You1s father certainly knows that I have found grace in youi eyes; and he says, Let not Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] know this, lest he be grieved: but truly [as] the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) lives, and [as] youi soul lives, [there is] but a step between me and death. 4Then said Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] unto David [beloved], Whatsoever youi soul desires, I will even do [it] for youi. 5And David [beloved] said unto Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given], Behold, tomorrow [is] the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third [day] at even. 6If youi father at all miss me, then say, David [beloved] earnestly asked [leave] of me that he might run to Beit-Lechem [House of Bread] his city: for [there is] a yearly sacrifice there for all the family. 7If he say thus, [It is] well; youri servant shall have peace: but if he be very exceedingly angry, [then] be sure that evil is determined by him. 8Therefore youi shall deal kindly with youri servant; for youi have brought youri servant into a covenant of the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) with youi: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me yourself; for why should youi bring me to youri father? 9And Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] said, Far be it from youi: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon youi, then would not I tell it youi? 10Then said David [beloved] to Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given], Who shall tell me? or what [if] youri father answer youi roughly? 11And Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] said unto David [beloved], Come, and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.

12And Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] said unto David [beloved], O LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) God-Elohim (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] of Yisra’el [He Holds Onto The Heel Of God], when I have sounded my father about tomorrow any time, [or] the third [day], and, behold, [if there be] good toward David [beloved], and I then send not unto youi, and show it youi; 13The LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) do so and much more to Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given]: but if it please my father [to do] youi evil, then I will show it youi, and send youi away, that youi may go in peace: and the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) be with youi, as he has been with my father. 14And youi shall not only while yet I live show me the kindness of the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), that I die not: 15But [also] youi shall not cut off youi kindness from my house forever: no, not when the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) has cut off the enemies of David [beloved] everyone from the face of the earth. 16So Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] made [a covenant] with the house of David [beloved], [saying], Let the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) even require [it] at the hand of David’s [beloved]’s enemies. 17And Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] caused David [beloved] to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

18Then Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] said to David [beloved], Tomorrow [is] the new moon: and youi shall be missed, because youi seat will be empty. 19And [when] youi have detained (held) three days, [then] youi shall go down quickly, and come to the place where youi did hide yourself when the business was [in hand], and shall remain by the stone Ezel [departure]. 20And I will shoot three arrows on the side [thereof], as though I shot at a mark. 21And, behold, I will send a boy, [saying], Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say unto the boy, Behold, the arrows [are] on this side of youi, take them; then come youi: for [there is] peace to youi, and no hurt; [as] the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) lives. 22But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows [are] beyond youi; go youi way: for the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) has sent youi away. 23And [as touching] the matter which youi and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) [be] between youi and me forever.

24So David [beloved] hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat. 25And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, [even] upon a seat by the wall: and Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] arose, and Avner [my father is a lamp] sat by Sha’ul’s [desired] side, and David’s [beloved]’s place was empty. 26Nevertheless Sha’ul [desired] spoke not anything that day: for he thought, Something has befallen him, he [is] not clean; surely he [is] not clean. 27And it came to pass on the morrow, [which was] the second [day] of the month, that David’s [beloved]’s place was empty: and Sha’ul [desired] said unto Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] his son, For what reason comes not the son of Yishai [I possess] to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day? 28And Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] answered Sha’ul [desired], David [beloved] earnestly asked [leave] of me [to go] to Beit-Lechem [House of Bread]: 29And he said, Let me go, I pray youi; for our family has a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he has commanded me [to be there]: and now, if I have found favour in youi eyes, let me get away, I pray youi, and see my brethren. Therefore he comes not unto the king's table.

30Then Sha’ul’s [desired] anger was kindled against Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given], and he said unto him, youi son of the perverse rebellious [woman], do not I know that youi have chosen the son of Yishai [I possess] to youi own confusion, and unto the confusion of youi mother's nakedness? 31For as long as the son of Yishai [I possess] lives upon the ground, youi shall not be established, nor youi kingdom. For what reason now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die. 32And Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] answered Sha’ul [desired] his father, and said unto him, For what reason shall he be slain? what has he done? 33And Sha’ul [desired] cast a javelin at him to strike him: whereby Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] knew that it was determined of his father to slay David [beloved]. 34So Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David [beloved], because his father had done him shame.

35And it came to pass in the morning, that Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] went out into the field at the time appointed with David [beloved], and a little boy with him. 36And he said unto his boy, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. [And] as the boy ran, he shot an arrow beyond him. 37And when the boy was come to the place of the arrow which Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] had shot, Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] cried after the boy, and said, [Is] not the arrow beyond youi? 38And Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] cried after the boy, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given]'s boy gathered up the arrows, and came to his master. 39But the boy knew not anything: only Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] and David [beloved] knew the matter. 40And Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] gave his artillery unto his boy, and said unto him, Go, carry [them] to the city. 41[And] as soon as the boy was gone, David [beloved] arose out of [a place] toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David [beloved] exceeded. 42And Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] said to David [beloved], Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), saying, The LORD-Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate) be between me and youi, and between my seed and youi seed forever. And he arose and departed: and Y’honatan [Yehovah has Given] went into the city.
