Berean Study Bible | New Living Translation |
Of David. To You, O LORD, I call; be not deaf to me, O my Rock. For if You remain silent, I will be like those descending to the Pit. | 1I pray to you, O LORD, my rock. Do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you are silent, I might as well give up and die. |
Hear my cry for mercy when I call to You for help, when I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary. | 2Listen to my prayer for mercy as I cry out to you for help, as I lift my hands toward your holy sanctuary. |
Do not drag me away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors while malice is in their hearts. | 3Do not drag me away with the wicked— with those who do evil— those who speak friendly words to their neighbors while planning evil in their hearts. |
Repay them according to their deeds and for their works of evil. Repay them for what their hands have done; bring back on them what they deserve. | 4Give them the punishment they so richly deserve! Measure it out in proportion to their wickedness. Pay them back for all their evil deeds! Give them a taste of what they have done to others. |
Since they show no regard for the works of the LORD or what His hands have done, He will tear them down and never rebuild them. | 5They care nothing for what the LORD has done or for what his hands have made. So he will tear them down, and they will never be rebuilt! |
Blessed be the LORD, for He has heard my cry for mercy. | 6Praise the LORD! For he has heard my cry for mercy. |
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart rejoices, and I give thanks to Him with my song. | 7The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. |
The LORD is the strength of His people, a stronghold of salvation for His anointed. | 8The LORD gives his people strength. He is a safe fortress for his anointed king. |
Save Your people and bless Your inheritance; shepherd them and carry them forever. | 9Save your people! Bless Israel, your special possession. Lead them like a shepherd, and carry them in your arms forever. |
