Psalm 127
CSB Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Christian Standard BibleNew International Version
1Unless the LORD builds a house, its builders labor over it in vain; unless the LORD watches over a city, the watchman stays alert in vain.1A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.
2In vain you get up early and stay up late, working hard to have enough food-- yes, he gives sleep to the one he loves.2In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-- for he grants sleep to those he loves.
3Sons are indeed a heritage from the LORD, offspring, a reward.3Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.
4Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons born in one's youth.4Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth.
5Happy is the man who has filled his quiver with them. They will never be put to shame when they speak with their enemies at the city gate.5Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.
