Holman Christian Standard Bible | King James Bible |
For the choir director. Davidic. I have taken refuge in the LORD. How can you say to me," Escape to the mountain like a bird! | 1To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? |
For look, the wicked string the bow; they put the arrow on the bowstring to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. | 2For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. |
When the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" | 3If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? |
The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD's throne is in heaven. His eyes watch; He examines everyone. | 4The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. |
The LORD examines the righteous and the wicked. He hates the lover of violence. | 5The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. |
He will rain burning coals and sulfur on the wicked; a scorching wind will be their portion. | 6Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. |
For the LORD is righteous; He loves righteous deeds. The upright will see His face. | 7For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. |
