Psalm 2
HCSB Parallel NASB [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleNew American Standard Bible 1995
Why do the nations rebel and the peoples plot in vain? 1Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing?
The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers conspire together against the LORD and His Anointed One:" 2The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
Let us tear off their chains and free ourselves from their restraints." 3"Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!"
The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord ridicules them. 4He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.
Then He speaks to them in His anger and terrifies them in His wrath:" 5Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,
I have consecrated My King on Zion, My holy mountain." 6"But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain."
I will declare the LORD's decree: He said to Me, "You are My Son; today I have become Your Father. 7"I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance and the ends of the earth Your possession. 8Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.
You will break them with a rod of iron; You will shatter them like pottery." 9'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'"
So now, kings, be wise; receive instruction, you judges of the earth. 10Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with reverential awe and rejoice with trembling. 11Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling.
Pay homage to the Son or He will be angry and you will perish in your rebellion, for His anger may ignite at any moment. All those who take refuge in Him are happy. 12Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
