To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm for the sons of Korah. How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! | 1How lovely are your dwelling places, LORD of the Heavenly Armies. |
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. | 2I desire and long for the Temple courts of the LORD. My heart and body sing for joy to the living God. |
Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. | 3Even the sparrow found a house for herself and the swallow a nest to lay her young at your altar, LORD of the Heavenly Armies, my king and God. |
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. | 4How happy are those who live in your Temple, for they can praise you continuously. Interlude |
Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. | 5How happy are those whose strength is in you, whose heart is on your path. |
Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. | 6They will pass through the Baca Valley where he will prepare a spring for them; even the early rain will cover it with blessings. |
They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. | 7They will walk from strength to strength; each will appear before God in Zion. |
O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah. | 8LORD God of the Heavenly Armies, hear my prayer! Listen, God of Jacob! Interlude |
Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. | 9God, look at our shield, and show favor to your anointed, |
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. | 10for a day in your Temple courts is better than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather stand at the entrance of God's house than live in the tent of wickedness. |
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. | 11For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD grants grace and favor; the LORD will not withhold any good thing from those who walk blamelessly. |
O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. | 12LORD of Heavenly Armies, how happy are those who trust in you. |
