To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. | 1For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. |
He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved. | 2He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken. |
How long will ye imagine mischief against a man? ye shall be slain all of you: as a bowing wall shall ye be, and as a tottering fence. | 3How long will you assail a man, That you may murder him, all of you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence? |
They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. | 4They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position; They delight in falsehood; They bless with their mouth, But inwardly they curse. Selah. |
My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. | 5My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. |
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. | 6He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken. |
In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. | 7On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. |
Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. | 8Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah. |
Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity. | 9Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath. |
Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them. | 10Do not trust in oppression And do not vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them. |
God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God. | 11Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God; |
Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work. | 12And lovingkindness is Yours, O Lord, For You recompense a man according to his work. |
