Then he brought me out into the outer court, the way toward the north; and he brought me to the chamber which was opposite the separate area and opposite the building toward the north.1Then the man led me out northward into the outer court, and he brought me to the group of chambers opposite the temple courtyard and the outer wall on the north side.
Along the length, which was a hundred cubits, was the north door; the width was fifty cubits.2The building with the door facing north was a hundred cubits long and fifty cubits wide.
Opposite the twenty cubits which belonged to the inner court, and opposite the pavement which belonged to the outer court, was gallery corresponding to gallery in three stories.3Gallery faced gallery in three levels opposite the twenty cubits that belonged to the inner court and opposite the pavement that belonged to the outer court.
Before the chambers was an inner walk ten cubits wide, a way of one hundred cubits; and their openings were on the north.4In front of the chambers was an inner walkway ten cubits wide and a hundred cubits long. Their doors were on the north.
Now the upper chambers were smaller because the galleries took more space away from them than from the lower and middle ones in the building.5Now the upper chambers were smaller because the galleries took more space from the chambers on the lower and middle floors of the building.
For they were in three stories and had no pillars like the pillars of the courts; therefore the upper chambers were set back from the ground upward, more than the lower and middle ones.6For they were arranged in three stories, and unlike the courts, they had no pillars. So the upper chambers were set back further than the lower and middle floors.
As for the outer wall by the side of the chambers, toward the outer court facing the chambers, its length was fifty cubits.7An outer wall in front of the chambers was fifty cubits long and ran parallel to the chambers and the outer court.
For the length of the chambers which were in the outer court was fifty cubits; and behold, the length of those facing the temple was a hundred cubits.8For the chambers on the outer court were fifty cubits long, while those facing the temple were a hundred cubits long.
Below these chambers was the entrance on the east side, as one enters them from the outer court.9And below these chambers was the entrance on the east side as one enters them from the outer court.
In the thickness of the wall of the court toward the east, facing the separate area and facing the building, there were chambers.10On the south side along the length of the wall of the outer court were chambers adjoining the courtyard and opposite the building,
The way in front of them was like the appearance of the chambers which were on the north, according to their length so was their width, and all their exits were both according to their arrangements and openings.11with a passageway in front of them, just like the chambers that were on the north. They had the same length and width, with similar exits and dimensions.
Corresponding to the openings of the chambers which were toward the south was an opening at the head of the way, the way in front of the wall toward the east, as one enters them.12And corresponding to the doors of the chambers that were facing south, there was a door in front of the walkway that was parallel to the wall extending eastward.
Then he said to me, "The north chambers and the south chambers, which are opposite the separate area, they are the holy chambers where the priests who are near to the LORD shall eat the most holy things. There they shall lay the most holy things, the grain offering, the sin offering and the guilt offering; for the place is holy.13Then the man said to me, “The north and south chambers facing the temple courtyard are the holy chambers where the priests who approach the LORD will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings—the grain offerings, the sin offerings, and the guilt offerings—for the place is holy.
"When the priests enter, then they shall not go out into the outer court from the sanctuary without laying there their garments in which they minister, for they are holy. They shall put on other garments; then they shall approach that which is for the people."14Once the priests have entered the holy area, they must not go out into the outer court until they have left behind the garments in which they minister, for these are holy. They are to put on other clothes before they approach the places that are for the people.”
Now when he had finished measuring the inner house, he brought me out by the way of the gate which faced toward the east and measured it all around.15Now when the man had finished measuring the interior of the temple area, he led me out by the gate that faced east, and he measured the area all around:
He measured on the east side with the measuring reed five hundred reeds by the measuring reed.16With a measuring rod he measured the east side to be five hundred cubits long.
He measured on the north side five hundred reeds by the measuring reed.17He measured the north side to be five hundred cubits long.
On the south side he measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.18He measured the south side to be five hundred cubits long.
He turned to the west side and measured five hundred reeds with the measuring reed.19And he came around and measured the west side to be five hundred cubits long.
He measured it on the four sides; it had a wall all around, the length five hundred and the width five hundred, to divide between the holy and the profane.20So he measured the area on all four sides. It had a wall all around, five hundred cubits long and five hundred cubits wide, to separate the holy from the common.
