A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. | 1A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; |
Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory. | 2To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. |
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You. | 3Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. |
So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. | 4Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. |
My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips. | 5My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: |
When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches, | 6When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. |
For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy. | 7Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. |
My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me. | 8My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. |
But those who seek my life to destroy it, Will go into the depths of the earth. | 9But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth. |
They will be delivered over to the power of the sword; They will be a prey for foxes. | 10They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes. |
But the king will rejoice in God; Everyone who swears by Him will glory, For the mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped. | 11But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. |
